August at Java has been nothing short of inspiring. At just 17 years old, Budding Chef Eric stepped into our kitchens as our Guest Chef of the Month and what a journey it has been. 

A Young Chef with Big Ambitions 

Eric may be young, but his creativity and ambition are undeniable. With each dish, he proved that age is no barrier when it comes to passion and skill. His dream? To one day see one of his menu creations officially included in the main Java House menu, a vision that kept him cooking with heart and purpose throughout the month. 

His Flavourful Creations 

From hearty breakfasts to inventive mains, Eric’s menu was a true reflection of his culinary imagination: 

  • Tropical Crepe Fold Combo: A breakfast delight of stuffed crepes, home fries, eggs your way, and a choice of sausage or bacon. 
  • Chicken & Grilled Wrap Combo: Orange and teriyaki-infused chicken, grilled pineapple, and freshness wrapped together.

  • Mini Kebabs & Bhajia Combo: A fan favourite, beef kebabs paired with crunchy bhajias. 

  • Island Crunch Burger: A tropical twist on a classic, featuring coconut chicken and creamy tamarind spread. 
  • Peri Peri Chicken Wings: Bold, fiery, and unforgettable. 
  • Coconut & Lemongrass Fish Stew: Comfort in a bowl, featuring tender fish chunks in a fragrant broth. 

Each dish carried a piece of Eric’s story, his love for flavour, his coastal background, and his boldness to experiment. 

Flavours Inspired by His Roots 

Growing up along the coast, Eric’s palate was shaped by bold spices, fresh ingredients, and tropical inspirations. From the coconut-infused crunch of his Island Burger to the fragrant lemon grass broth of his Fish Stew, his recipes carried the essence of where he comes from. It was more than food, it was a reflection of his heritage.
